Maintaining a profile
Investment funds
Why can’t I maintain the class or series offered via prospectus in the investment fund profile?
The classes or series offered via prospectus in the investment fund profile are displayed and not editable. This is because the classes or series displayed in the investment fund group profile are the qualified or receipted classes or series. Any change to the classes or series in the investment fund profile can only be done by the issuance of an amendment or final receipt.
How do I create/maintain the working list of classes or series?
The working list of classes or series offered via the prospectus field in the investment fund group profile allows for the preparation of new class or series at the group level in anticipation of future prospectus filing requiring pre-population of class or series from the group.
When creating or maintaining an investment fund group profile, enter the name of each class or series separately in each box provided under the ‘Securities’ section. To add another class or series, click on ‘+ Add class or series below’ and a new box will be provided on the next line. You can remove a class or series by clicking the ‘Remove’ button. To rename or correct the name of a class or series, go to ‘Maintain investment fund group profile’ action, and click ‘Make changes’ to ‘Securities’ section and edit the name of the class and series. Click ‘Save and continue’ and then click ‘Submit’.

How do I change the ‘Date of the last final prospectus’ on my fund profile?
At the launch of SEDAR+ none of the funds will have this date on their profile and the date will appear as ‘not provided’. The ‘Date of the last final prospectus’ will be added to the fund profile upon the issuance of a final receipt on the fund’s prospectus filing.
Classes or series of securities offered via exempt market are missing from my investment fund group profile. What happened?
Every 90 days following the creation of the investment fund group, the system searches for classes/series offered in the exempt market that are in the investment fund group profile but are not in any of the investment funds within the group. They are then deleted automatically.
How do I update the Net Asset Value (NAV) on my fund profile?
The NAV information in the fund profile can be updated whenever there is a significant change to the net asset value. At a minimum, update the fund’s NAV when filing a new prospectus for the fund.
Who has authority over the investment fund profile once it is created?
Users or organizations that have authority over an investment fund manager will have authority over an investment fund, or investment fund group, once it has been created. Specifically, all of the filing agents that are associated to the investment fund manager will also be automatically associated to the investment fund(s) and the investment fund group(s) that are related to the investment fund manager.
Profile information
How do I change the ‘Short-form eligible’ field on my profile?
The ‘Short-form eligible’ field on a company or investment fund profile is updated automatically to ‘Yes’ when a NI 44-101 Notice of Intent to Qualify is filed and is updated automatically to ‘No’ when a NI 44-101 Withdrawal Notice is filed.
How do I report incorrect information on a profile?
To report incorrect information on a profile, contact the principal regulator for the issuer, as identified on the profile or based on their head office province. Visit Contact Us for a listing of all Canadian securities jurisdictions for their contact information.
How should issuer profiles be managed in SEDAR+, for situations such as an amalgamation or merger, fund termination or any other reasons?
If two or more issuers have amalgamated or one or more issuers have been wound up into another, a new profile will have to be created for the merged or resulting entity if it is required to make filings through SEDAR+. The issuers that have wounded-up will be ceased to be reporting issuers and each profile must be linked to the newly created issuer profile by maintaining it and updating the ‘Previous issuers’ section.
For an investment fund that is terminated due to merger and is continuing into an existing fund, the terminating fund will be ceased to be a reporting issuer. In this case, the terminating fund’s profile must be linked to the continuing fund’s profile by maintaining it and updating the ‘Previous issuers’ section. Refer to How to update the reporting issuer profile when the issuer has ceased to be a reporting issuer due to amalgamation, merger, termination or any other reasons?
Similarly, if an issuer divests or spins off and is required to make electronic filings, the original issuer retains its same profile number and the new entity must create a new profile, in which case a new profile number is assigned to that entity. In this case, the previous profile must be linked to the new profile by maintaining it and updating the ‘Previous issuers’ section.
How to update the reporting issuer profile when the issuer has ceased to be a reporting issuer due to amalgamation, merger, termination or any other reasons?
When an issuer has ceased to be a reporting issuer, the ‘Reporting issuer details’ section in the SEDAR+ profile must be updated to ‘Reporting issuer = No’ on or shortly after the effective date that the issuer has ceased reporting. Each of the previous reporting jurisdictions will then update the following information in the ‘Reporting issuer details’ section in SEDAR+: ‘Date ceased to be a reporting issuer’ and ‘Reason ceased to be a reporting issuer’, to indicate that the issuer has ceased reporting in that jurisdiction. You can contact the regulator in the jurisdiction that has not updated the information. For more information on how to maintain a profile, see Maintain a Profile.
When do I need to update the profile to indicate the issuer has become a reporting issuer?
When an issuer becomes a reporting issuer after receiving a final prospectus receipt, the profile must be updated immediately to indicate that the issuer is a reporting issuer.
Maintain the profile and change the Reporting issuer setting from ‘No’ or ‘Pending’ to ‘Yes’.
How do I delete a duplicate profile in SEDAR+?
Users are not able to delete a duplicate profile. If a duplicate profile exists, complete the ‘Duplicate Profile Deletion Request Form’ and submit it to the CSA Service Desk.
To download the form, click on the following link to SEDAR+ Rules and Forms page. For more details, contact the CSA Service Desk at 1-800-219-5381 or sedarplus@csa-acvm.ca.
How do I update the profile to indicate the issuer has ceased reporting?
Maintain the profile and change the Reporting issuer setting from ‘Yes’ to ‘No.’ The issuer can continue to make filings as a non-reporting issuer. For more information on how to maintain a profile, see Maintain a Profile.
I updated my user account’s contact information; why didn’t the profile’s main contact information update?
If you selected ‘I am the main contact’ when creating a profile, your contact information from your user account is pre-populated on the profile. Any subsequent updates to your contact information will not automatically update the profile. You must maintain the profile separately.
